Offstage Mingle
Where: Rehearsal Hall at Portland Stage, 25A Forest Ave, Portland, ME
When: Sunday, December 8th from 5-6:45pm
This is a casual event for theaters and offstage talent to mingle together and hopefully make some new connections. Tables will be set up around the room with resumes sorted by fields (stage manager, designer, wardrobe, etc), but no one will be anchored to those tables. We will even display resumes for offstage talent that are unable to attend this mingle. There will be light snacks and refreshments during this event.
Group Auditions
Where: Studio Theater at Portland Stage, 25A Forest Ave, Portland, ME
When: Sunday, December 8th and Monday, December 9th; both days from 7pm - 10pm
The goal of this audition is to connect Portland-area theaters with Portland-based actors. These auditions will consist of two monologues of contrasting tone not to exceed a total of three minutes. Although not all theaters will be actively casting from these auditions, it is a great way for local actors to meet the people that do casting for the Portland-area theaters. Theaters are welcome to arrange for callback auditions separate from these Group Auditions.
Both of these events are offered at a total cost of $20 to the attending theater organization but are FREE for those looking to be hired or cast.
Whether you're an actor, technician, theater, something else or a combination, don't hesitate to reach out and ask us questions, send us an email! Hopefully, most answers can be found below.

Do you run things behind the scene and want to meet new theaters?
You can participate in a FREE Offstage Mingle for the Greater Portland area. Send us an email to confirm that you would like to participate; please list each area that you would like to list yourself under. See the Offstage Submission form for various areas. You must fill out the Offstage Database and submit a resume (1 page) prior to the event; if you have multiple skills, you can submit multiple resumes to highlight each skill. If you wish to also display your own printed portfolio, you can let us know so we leave room for it on the table; it is usually easiest for portfolio's to be online and place the link on your resume by writing the URL or via QR code. If you want your resume displayed but you cannot attend the event please let us know, we can happily accommodate that.
On the Friday before the event, we will print multiple copies of each resume and display them on tables around the room for people to review or pick up. All materials will need to be picked up by Tuesday afternoon, or they will be thrown away.

Are you an actor that wants to audition for multiple theaters at once?
You can participate in a FREE Group Audition for the Greater Portland area. Based on the available slots below, please send us an email with what date/time slot works best for you. Be sure to include multiple options. Please do not show up without an audition appointment.
Prior to the audition, all actors need to have submitted themselves to the Casting Database. This can be done on our website here; be sure to also send in a headshot and resume via email. Actors will be asked to come prepared with two monologues of contrasting tone not to exceed a total of three minutes. Please be respectful of everyone's time and be sure to arrive ten minutes before your scheduled slot with monologues rehearsed and memorized. There will be someone monitoring the waiting area; it is recommend that you leave your personal items with them instead of bringing them in and out of the audition room as this will save time.
Additionally, we plan to make one packet per theater with each actor's headshot and resume. This will likely be a black and white copy using information from our Database (one headshot and the 1st page of each actor's resume) printed back to back. If you would like something of a higher quality, you are welcome to print your own copies and get them to Portland Stage by noon on Friday, December 6th. Packets will be assembled Friday afternoon and handed to each Theater at the start of auditions. Information for walk-ins will not be distributed but we will ensure that walk-ins are added to the Database.

Are you a theater looking to see actors and find new offstage talent?
For $20, theaters can attend an Offstage Mingle and the Group Audition for the Greater Portland area. Theaters will have access to the Casting Database and the Offstage Database for a year at no additional cost. Send us an email to be included; don't miss out!
Theaters can save a slot in the audition room by sending us an email with the name, position, and contact information of all attendees (limit of three per company). If for some reason a theater cannot attend the entire audition process, please tell us in advance so we can communicate this to actors. There will be a small fee of $20 asked of all attending theaters that can be paid in advance or on the day of; when this fee is collected, the password for the Database will be provided and this password will last until January 2021. Theaters that cannot attend these auditions but are still interested in access to the Databases can also pay $20 for access that lasts until January 2021.
During the Offstage Mingle, theater representatives can mingle with people and other theaters while also browsing tables with resumes and materials. If you know you're looking for new directors, go to the director table and peruse some resumes, or you can introduce yourself around the room and connect with other theater people of all talents. Materials will be left out for display throughout the auditions so that theaters can continue to review during breaks..
Like last year, we will be creating one packet per Theater with each actor's headshot and resume. This will be handed out at the start of the night. We are unable to distribute this information for walk-ins, but they will be in the Database to refer to afterwards. Additionally, all the materials from the Offstage Mingle will remain accessible until the end of the final day of auditions.
To respect everyone's time and energy, we want to make sure that there is a representative with casting authority in the audition room at all times that is actively paying attention to the audition process. In an attempt to see as many actors as possible, we've given ourselves a pretty tight schedule to maintain, so please make sure that everyone is on time and committed to maintaining our schedule. We ask that if a theater sees an actor that they really want to work they contact them after auditions instead of in the moment. Theaters should come prepared with whatever they need to take notes; there will be scrap notepads and some writing utensils provided but not enough for everyone. Theaters will be provided with some snacks and drinks for the scheduled breaks.
$20 payment can be sent to Maine Theater Collective, PO BOX 1458, Portland, ME, 04104
